Media Release: One Person Killed in Single Vehicle ATV Crash![]()
On Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 2:36 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to recreational ATV crash near Chehalem Ridge Nature Park. When deputies arrived, they found 46-year-old Matthew Brown of Cornelius deceased. ![]()
The Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. The investigation revealed that Brown was the only person on the ATV when it crashed. His family has been notified of his death.![]()
The Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) is a multi-agency team of specially trained law enforcement officers from the Sheriff's Office, local police departments, and the Washington County District Attorney's Office. The team investigates and reconstructs traffic crashes that may result in the prosecution of felony assault or manslaughter charges. The team can also assist with diagramming crime scenes.![]()

TRAFFIC SAFETY UNIT NEWS: Over Labor Day weekend your WCSO Traffic Safety Unit focused on DUII enforcement with our state and local partners. During this focused mission, the team stopped over 356 drivers, arresting 28 for driving under the influence of intoxicants. The team also issued 123 traffic-related citations. Thank you to Oregon State Police, Beaverton Police Department, Sherwood Police Department, Tualatin Police Department, Forest Grove Police, and W.C.C.C.A. 9-1-1 for their partnership and commitment to keeping drivers safe.![]()
