Media Release: One Person Killed in Single Vehicle ATV CrashOn Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 2:36 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to recreational ATV crash near Chehalem Ridge Nature Park. When deputies arrived, they found 46-year-old Matthew Brown of Cornelius deceased. The Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. The investigation revealed that Brown was the only person on the ATV when it crashed. His family has been notified of his death.The Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) is a multi-agency team of specially trained law enforcement officers from the Sheriff's Office, local police departments, and the Washington County District Attorney's Office. The team investigates and reconstructs traffic crashes that may result in the prosecution of felony assault or manslaughter charges. During this focused mission, the team stopped over 356 drivers, arresting 28 for driving under the influence of intoxicants. The team also issued 123 traffic-related citations.
